HQ Siblings Exchange

A fic and art exchange celebrating the sibling/family dynamics in Haikyuu!

What is an exchange?

A fic and art exchange is a fandom event where writers and artists sign up to create a piece in exchange for receiving one in return. The participants will be kept anonymous throughout this process and be revealed at the end of the event. The HQ Siblings Exchange aims to celebrate the sibling and familial relationships in Haikyuu! (ex: the Hinata siblings, the Tanaka siblings, Komori Motoya and Sakusa Kiyoomi's relationship as cousins, etc...)

How does it work?

  • This event is open to anyone who wants to celebrate sibling dynamics in Haikyuu! Writers & Artists can sign up to create a fan work as a gift and receive one in return!

  • Participants will need an AO3 account to sign-up here.

  • While signing up, participants will have to request: at least four (4) prompts to inspire their creator, specify the tags, specify which siblings' dynamic they are requesting & the side ships they are comfortable receiving (note: side ships are not an obligation, the sibling dynamic must be the focus of the prompt). The participants will also specify anything they do not want to receive or their ‘Do Not Wants’.

  • We ask that your prompts include at least one pair from the options on AO3, and you can specify more in the request form.

  • While signing up, participants will have to specify what they are willing to create, including: which sibling dynamics they are willing to create for, any other details/strengths they are able to create for their recipient. It’s also important to include the elements they aren’t comfortable in creating or their ‘Won’t Draw/Write’.

  • After signing up, all participants will be matched anonymously through AO3 based on the preferences, tags & prompts that are requested during sign-ups.

  • Participants will have approx. 9 weeks to create their gift. There will be 2 check-ins during the creation period. Please respect these check-ins.

  • It’s important that all participants keep their recipients anonymous throughout the entire creation process.

  • All work must be turned in by the deadline. For this exchange to be successful & enjoyable for everyone, participants have to commit to creating their piece on time, and communicate with the Mods if anything comes up!

  • When all the works are submitted, the anonymous posting period begins and will last for 2 weeks, which will then be followed by the revealing day where all creators are revealed!

Other ways to participate:

Pinch Hitters

Pinch Hitters are the key to a successful exchange if anyone drops out. They are creators that will voluntarily step in to create a piece to fill in the spot. They can be a creator who is already part of the exchange who is willing to create more than one work, or they can be a new creator who signs up as a pinch hitter.

Beta Readers

A beta reader gives the writer feedback and encouragement on their work.
The feedback can be related to grammar, characterization, story structure, or anything writing-related.
Writers are free to ask a friend outside the exchange to beta their work, just make sure they don’t talk about your work with anyone so that you can remain anonymous.

Treats

A treat is a work created for anyone in the exchange in addition to the work you create for your assigned recipient. All requests will be made publicly viewable to allow for treats. Treats will be posted during the last part of staggered reveals, and you may upload them to the collection through the end of that period. If you happen to miss sign-ups, you are still welcome to create a treat for someone if a prompt catches your eye!

By signing up for the event, you agree to the following rules:

  • This is a sibling event, so all prompts and works must focus on sibling dynamics, but side ships are allowed if they are specified by your recipient. Please respect your recipient’s preferences.

  • Fanfiction gifts must be at least 1000 words fulfilling one of your recipient’s prompts. The piece must be complete by the end of the event.

  • Fanart gifts must be at least one colored page illustration or comic fulfilling one of the recipient’s prompts. Lineart with black & white shading is also accepted. Both traditional and digital arts are accepted, we simply ask the traditional piece to be on white paper. Backgrounds are optional. Finally, the piece must be completed by the end of the event.

  • No NSFW and no incest content will be allowed. This event is open to all ages and all work cannot exceed the Teen and Up rating.

  • Keep your work anonymous until creator reveals. You can promote the event by making your participation known, but please refrain from revealing your work until the final day.

  • To ensure that the creator’s anonymity is preserved, we ask you to not contact your recipient during the creation period. The Mods will be delighted to help in any way, so please contact them if needed or write an email to [email protected]

  • If you need an extension to be able to complete your piece, please contact the Mods - together we can work on a solution to make things easier for you!

  • If you drop out from the event, please make sure you do it before the drop-out deadline. Contact the Mods as soon as possible so they can reassign your recipient to someone else.

  • It is encouraged to reply to comments and feedback during the anonymous period - AO3 will keep your user name hidden until after the reveal.

  • Be kind, respectful & supportive of other people’s works.
